Dining Out in Southport
Southport, NC Magazine - July/August

"Fishy Fishy Cafe is not your normal seafood restaurant. Located at 106 Yacht Basin Street in Historic Southport, where the Shrimp House used to be, the menu and preparation is quite unusual.
For openers, they're working to redefine what fresh seafood means. Try "Off the boat...Into the seafood market next door...Into the kitchen...On your plate."

..."for soup/salad, Judy chose the Chef's Special salad with shrimp, spinach, mandarin oranges, special flavors and a wasabi sauce. I, being different, had to try the Daily Chowder described as sweet potato and spices with crab. Both were unique and extremely delightful.

Big decision time. With an Entree list that includes things like: Pan Roasted Mahi-Mahi, Crispy Oven Roasted Whole Red Snapper, Sauteed Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes, Caribbean Jerk Marinated Pork Chop, Pineapple-Rhum Glazed Pork Ribs, Garlic & Herb Marinated Grilled Flank Steak and Grilled Flat Iron-what do you do? Judy went for the Whole Red Snapper(and it is whole, i.e., head-on) and I jumped on the Lump Crab Cakes. There was no disappointment at this table!"

..."If you're more into a romantic sunset to die for and some interesting drinks try the Mojito, Latinopolito, Apple Maritini, Chocolate Martini, Mango Tango, Mango Margarita, or Weekender. Cerveza, of course! How about a Red Stripe? What about the wine list? It Includes Blancos(16 or so) from France, Italy and California...Rojos(14 or so) include California and Australia...with a promise of "more to come"

So! Here's what we think is the bottom line! If you're looking for casual dining experience with one of the best sunsets and waterfront views Southport has to offer..." "...absolutely give it a try. Or to quote a recent comment heard, "I think it is my new 'most favorite' restaurant."
